Here’s something new that turned up in Emmett Wilson research: A page honoring The Platonic Debating Society, which was the founding body of today’s Florida State University Debate Team. The photos come from the first yearbook published by the Florida Seminary West of the Suwannee River (which was FSU when […]

Alas. With sadness, the passing of my cousin, Emmett’s grand niece, and gracious friend. I was blessed and lucky to know her through my Emmett’s research. She encouraged me, helped me, shared generously anecdotes, photos, and information I could not have found otherwise. I am going to miss her terribly.

Over the past few months, I’ve been doing a lot research to fill-in-the-blanks with information about Emmett’s siblings. Today, I found an interesting (and new-to-me) document with useful information about one of Emmett’s sisters! Don’t you love the details going back several generations and documented for Emmett’s family? Awesome! So, […]

Towards the end of December, I came across an excellent interview conducted with Emmett’s close friend Minnie Kehoe. The text of the interview is below, along with the original source information. Note that this wasn’t exactly an in-person interview; Minnie apparently took issue with one of the articles published by […]

Here’s a new-to-me article about E. Meade Wilson II, nephew of Emmett, on his wedding day. (I was going back to check on articles about Emmett and siblings that may have been uploaded since my last database check, and came across a wedding announcement — which made me do a […]

Here’s information that Emmett’s youngest brother, Walker Wilson, was applying for membership in the Train Dispatcher’s Association of America (via Google docs). Deciphering the item — S.A.L. was the Seaboard Air Lines railroad. Walker’s employment with the railroad was not simply a family tradition, but an important employer in the […]

Here’s another new-to-me clipping discovered through routine checking of updated databases: Emmett’s father’s obituary contains interesting information. For example, even though Dr. Wilson had been ill for several days, his death may have been unexpected, as it was a ‘great shock.’ Dr. Wilson’s death information (from a second source) mentioned […]

“Cephas L. Wilson, i.m.o. Louise H. Wilson.” Such a tiny little item to stumble across, but I love finding even the tiniest crumbs of information! Here’s what I found today: The publication is titled “The Rancher,” a newsletter published by the Florida Sheriff’s Boys Ranch; the item on page 12 […]
