In Living Color

Look at this wonderful colorized photo on the Shorpy website, from 1902:

If you click on the photograph, you can zoom in on the details in this office. This is so striking, because all the photos I have of Emmett, and of his surroundings, including his office at the Cannon House Office Building, are in black and white.

I forget so easily that Emmett lived a life in color. When I look at this photo, it makes me think that Emmett and his friends were not all that much different than we are, today. It makes me feel ‘connected’, that their world is just around the corner, if that makes sense.
